Let me just say straight off that a white desk with the popular black computer systems you see so much these days is sooo smart looking.  Really a sharp combination.  You’ll love it.

This desk is made of Engineered wood. For those who are Ecology minded this should be good news. Engineered wood is chips and small pieces of wood mixed with adhiesive and formed into large sheets.  It can then be used as regular lumber. The nicest part of this process is  using  smallar trees, or damaged pieces can turn out large sheets of lumber the same sizes as the large trees, but it saves our forests.

In fact this engineered wood saves our forests even more as moisture doesn’t tend to warp this wood so much so more of it is useful. Great stuff!

Just in case you are a tiny bit worried about the paint .  It is not like you took an old chair out to the back yard and attacked it with a  can of white spray paint.  Not at all.  This paint won’t chip and nick as that would.  It is baked on. Rather like they do when painting a car, I imagine.  Though I do not know for sure how the process is done.  But, I do know that the paint job is beautiful and definately permanent.

There really is plenty of storage. A nice side shelf for your CPU and several shelves for books and paper. The shelves are not deep enough for a large size printer, but, my smaller one does fine. The shelves on the top part are rather small, but large enough for CD’s, exteral hard drives, etc. Or, as one user described them:  “They’re also a good place to put small items that really have nowhere else to go.”  Good idea.

Storage, is always an important consideration. If it is an extra bedroom you are turning this office, you will find shelves in the closet very handy. They hold a lot, and perhaps more important than amount is, they hold it out of sight. Visual clutter is quite distracting and does not promote productivity. File cabinets are important also. But, there certainly are many things that just don’t go in a file drawer.

Another shelving idea to consider is a bookcase that is floor to ceiling. It will certainly take less floor space than two or three smaller ones, and will probably hold more than the others. No, they don’t seem too big for even a small office, though it does seem they would.

When it comes to furniture, don’t reject larger items just because of size. You may find you do much better with a larger desk than you imagined. Small may seem the way to go, but, it isn’t always. If the desk isn’t large enough it may soon become cluttered and not a functional work space.
